I’ve been getting a lot of questions from women asking me if they can wear “shimmer” after the age of 30? And my answer to that question, is absolutely!
Shimmer is used in cosmetics to help create a subtle glow to your makeup application. And there’s nothing I love more then a beautiful ”glow”, so here are some easy tips on how to add a little shimmer in your life at any age!
My favourite product on the market is: Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick - It is by far the greatest way to add the perfect glow! The best part is that they come in a wide variety of shades - Beige, Bronze, Rose, Pink and Apricot - and can be used as a bronzer, blush and/or eyeshadow! Plus, they’re great for women of all ages - A Definite Must Have!! I hope this helped you out! And always remember to have fun while doing your makeup, and don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!

And, don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!
Ladies, let me introduce you to one of my favourite products on the market: Lid-Care Towelettes. It’s the most gentle, non-irritating eye makeup remover I have ever tried. I first got introduced to this product when I got Laser eye surgery a few years ago. I remember the Doctor saying that I had to use extremely gentle cleansers on my eyes for the first little while after surgery, and that’s when he gave me Lid-Care. I have been hooked ever since.
My favourite, are the ones that come already pre-moistened and individually wrapped. They are super easy to use and excellent for traveling!! You never have to worry about your product spilling in your suitcase ever again!
It’s especially great for contact lens wearers and for people who have really sensitive eyes. You can find Lid-Care over the counter at most pharmacies like Shoppers Drug Mart and Walmart, in the eye care section.
This is a definite Must Have, for everyday and/or for traveling!
On those days when you don’t feel like wearing foundation, but you still want to even out your skin tone, try using a tinted moisturizer. My favourite product on the market hands down is Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. It has the perfect amount of lightweight buildable coverage that leaves your skin looking and feeling flawless! And, if you have sensitive or acne-prone skin, it also comes in oil-free, so it’s good for all skin types!
Also, try their NEW! Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer with SPF 20. It doesn’t have as much coverage as the original, but it’s like radiance in a bottle. A great way to add a beautiful glow!
And, don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!
I love getting my nails done - it’s super relaxing! But, with my busy schedule, it’s really hard to make time to go to the spa (…considering, I’m still trying to find the time to go to the gym!)
So to get a great manicure and pedicure at home in minutes, you’re going to want to follow these two easy steps:
STEP ONE: Exfoliate and Moisturize
If you’re not too sure what exfoliating does, it removes dead skin cells that lye on the surface of your skin, and if not removed, it will leave your skin dry, rough and dull looking - so it’s super important to exfoliate before any manicure and pedicure.
Moisturizing the skin afterwards with a good lotion is a great way to lock in moisture, leaving your skin silky smooth.
I just tried OPI Manicure Pedicure Cucumber Scrub and Massage, and I absolutely fell in love! Not only did the scrub and massage leave my skin feeling like butter, it smelt amazing! With natural sugar crystals, antioxidant pineapple and soothing cucumber extract, I really felt like I brought the spa to my bathtub! And it honestly feels amazing! aaaaahhhh…
STEP TWO: Nail Polish
Before I begin any nail polish application, I always use a good base coat. My new favourite base coat on the market right now is OPI Start to Finish, it’s a base coat, top coat and nail strengthener all in one. And now it comes in a Formaldehyde-Free formula that is great for sensitive nails - like mine!! Yiippee!
Next, I apply my nail polish. I very rarely apply the same colour to both my hands and feet. I like to use darker colours (like OPI: Lunch at the Delhi) on my toes
and very light, pretty colours (like: OPI: Get Me To The Taj On Time) on my hands.
And that’s it! A spa manicure and pedicure from the comfort of your home in just minutes!
And, Ladies, don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!
Ladies, let me introduce you to the BaByliss PRO Nano Titanium 6″ Mini Flat Iron!
Not only is this the cutest and smallest flat iron I have ever seen! It also works amazing! (Who new something so small would work so great!)
The Nano Titanium is truly the size of my hand and heats up in under one minute, which is perfect for traveling and styling on the go!
And not only does it style great, it’s also perfect for straightening your bangs, because it’s small enough to reach even the shortest hair, and I love that!
But, the best part is that it sells for $28.99 at BeautyChoice.com - which is a great online retail store, selling top of the line, beauty related products at a great price! (Thanks BeautyChoice for sending me this great product!)
And Ladies, don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!

As you know I am always on the look out for the next best mascara! Because regardless of the occassion, mascara is one product a women should never leave home without! (My mom always say’s that if she doesn’t wear mascara, she’ll look like a “plucked chicken”…I swear she used those exact words! lol!)
So, the other day I received a brand NEW product from Maybelline New York, called: The Volum’ Express Colossal Mascara. I was so excited to try it, because not only did it look great in it’s bright yellow packaging, but it also said that it was going to make my lashes 9X the volume in just one coat!
So I decided to put it to the test - and let me tell you, it definitely measured up! My lashes looked amazing in just a few seconds!
This mascara has the perfect ‘volumizing’ MegaBrush and is made with collagen (a unique formula) which helps to make the lashes look plump and full! And the best part, it has a suggested retail price of $7.99!!
A definite Makeup Must Have!! I would love to hear what you think of this mascara!!! Yiippee!!
Ladies, if you’re looking for a great foundation brush, I highly recommend the pointed Kabuki Foundation brush from adesign. It not only feels fantastic and looks cute, but it also helps to apply your foundation evenly without streaks.
This Summer, it’s all about healthy glowing skin. But, it’s really important to remember that although a “glow” is in, “shine” is not. So if you begin to notice that your make.up is looking a bit shiny - try using blotting papers to help get rid of the shine, while keeping your makeup in place!
Tweezerman just came out with a cool new portable and convenient way to “blot” this Summer. The blotting papers come in this really neat dispenser. You simply pull out the the desired amount of paper, then close the lid and tear upwards. I love it!! A Definte Must-Have! Yeah!

Question:
Hi Sandy,
I was wondering if there is anything I could use to prevent my eye make up from smudging or smearing, especially when I apply it right in the lash line; it smudges right below my eyes making it look as if I have “raccoon eyes”. Is there a technique I could do, or a specific brand of eye liner you could recommend to prevent it from smearing? (Orlena)
Answer:
Dear Smudges,
There are a few ways you can prevent your eyeliner from smudging. Here are two easy tips and techniques:
1. Use a HARD eyeliner pencil. A soft eyeliner pencil is great to use when creating a smokey eye, because it’s great for smudging. But, if you’re looking to keep your eyeliner in place, I would suggest using a hard eyeliner pencil. My favourite eyeliner on the market is: ANNABELLE Kohl Eyeliner. Not only do these pencils stay on all day long - they also retail for under $5.00!!! amazing!
2. Layer. Going over your eyeliner a few times, helps to keep it on longer. This is a great way to help keep your eyeliner in place!
I really hope this helped you out! And, don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!
