I’ve been getting a lot of questions from women asking me if they can wear “shimmer” after the age of 30? And my answer to that question, is absolutely!
Shimmer is used in cosmetics to help create a subtle glow to your makeup application. And there’s nothing I love more then a beautiful ”glow”, so here are some easy tips on how to add a little shimmer in your life at any age!
- Make sure you’re using “shimmer” and not “glitter”. Glitter, is a great way to add sparkle to a look, but is primarily used by fun teenagers or in stage makeup to help reflect light. Shimmer is the more subdued relative, and can be worn by anyone.
- Use a light hand - If you’re going for a natural look and using products with “shimmer” in it, you’re going to want to keep the intensity to a minimum. Always tap off the brush before applying it on your face and use a light hand.
- Intensify it - If you’re looking to create a dramatic look - try layering it. Shimmer builds really well and looks amazing when layered!
- Try using a shimmer eyeshadow on the inner corners of your eye’s to help make them look bigger and brighter!
- To add radiance to your face, try highlighting the top of your cheek bones with some shimmer.
My favourite product on the market is: Bobbi Brown’s Shimmer Brick - It is by far the greatest way to add the perfect glow! The best part is that they come in a wide variety of shades - Beige, Bronze, Rose, Pink and Apricot - and can be used as a bronzer, blush and/or eyeshadow! Plus, they’re great for women of all ages - A Definite Must Have!!
I hope this helped you out! And always remember to have fun while doing your makeup, and don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!

I always see those bricks available at my CCO, but I never get one, I’m definitely going to get one now. Thanks for the recommendation!
