Review: L’oreal – Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara
January 26, 09
So, this weekend I tried out the new L’oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara – and I loved it!
I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first. As, i’m not usually a huge fan of the ‘tubing’ technology or the ‘white’ base coat – until now!
According to their website - L’oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes Mascara helps you get the look of “lash extensions” by “visibly lengthening your lashes up to an astonishing 80%.”
Here’s how it works:
Step One: Is a nourishing base coat that is infused with Ceramide R and D-Panthenol to protect and strengthen your lashes while creating the perfect base for the tube application.
Step Two: Is the “ultra-lengthening” tube top coat which is said to take your lashes to “amazing new heights…beauty tubes will not run, clump, flake or smudge and will stay on all day.”
Step Three: Beauty tubes mascara “removes easily with just warm water – no makeup remover or rubbing required!”
Beautytubes.ca says that it’s:
- Clump-free length.
- Smudge-proof.
- Flake-proof.
- Long wear hold.
- Ophthalmologist and allergy tested.
- Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
- Removes easily with plenty of warm water.
- Fragrance-free.
Overall, I think this mascara is definitely worth the extra step – it honestly doesn’t clump or flake and it really does help to lengthen your lashes while giving it some volume at the same time. Plus, it’s super easy to remove!
But, here is the big question – Will it replace my all time L’oreal favoutrite – Voluminous? No.
However, I think it will definitely have a place in my top ten favourite mascara’s!

Review – Maybelline Lash Stiletto
January 21, 09
I absolutely love wearing a nice pair of sexy stiletto’s – so when I heard that Maybelline was coming out with a new mascara called “Lash Stiletto” – I just had to give it a try!
Maybelline Lash Stiletto is already out in stores with a suggested retail price of $9.99. And according to their website it’s “the only mascara that does for lashes what stilettos do for legs” – that is – “not a heavy look, but a sleek, long look,” says Serena Giovi, vice president of marketing for Maybelline New York.
So with that in mind, I gave it a try – here are my thoughts:
Overall, I think the mascara did exactly what it set out to do – lengthen. It’s a great mascara for someone who’s not looking for volume but rather naturally looking longer lashes that are clump-free. Perfect for a soft day-look.

A cool new hair product from Japan!
January 12, 09
So, this weekend one of my students – Jade – from my Personal Makeup Class at George Brown College – brought in this cool new product from Japan – that I just had to share with you!
It’s called a Front Hair Stabilizer. It looks like a flat version of a hair roller and is used to hold your bangs away from your face. It’s perfect for when you’re getting your makeup done or washing your face.
And, not only does it actually work to hold your hair in place – it leaves it crease free!
I am definitely getting some for my makeup kit! Thanks Jade!
You can buy this product on eBay for $7.99 US. Click Here for more info.
