Hi happiface readers!
I was excited when Sandy asked me to write a guest post for happiface. I am a healthy food and active lifestyle blogger at: www.foodhealthplay.com, and wanted to share a super good-for-you green smoothie recipe.
With spring in full swing and warmer weather finally coming our way, what better way to enjoy it than with a delicious cold smoothie. Not only will it quench your thirst and hunger, it will help to give you a smooth, glowing complexion which is the base needed for that coveted flawless look.
Let’s look at this powerhouse drink. It is loaded with antioxidants, omega-3 and vitamins (A, C, K, B, E). These promote healthy skin, help to keep our skin strong (maintain our collagen), slow the premature aging process, keep our skin moistened, and aid in night vision along with many other vital functions. Lycopene from the watermelon aids in the skin regenerating process. Iron from the kale and spinach, along with the vitamin C, help to fight acne to keep a clear complexion. The yogurt gives us some calcium which help keep our bones, teeth and nails healthy.
Now don’t you want to make one right now? You’ll be surprised (like I was) that you can’t even taste the spinach and kale when mixed in with all the other fruits. Feel free to experiment and modify to make your own yummy creation.
handful of spinach and kale
1/2 cup yogurt
1/2 cup almond milk
1 scoop protein powder (optional to increase protein)
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/2 cup blueberries
handful of watermelon cubes
agave nectar or honey to taste
*Add all above to blender, liquefy and enjoy!
