Soft Hands in the Winter!

It never fails, that when the cold weather arrives, my hands are the first thing to get really really dry.

So, it’s super important to use a good hand cream all throughout the day and especially at night.  

I recently started using the Kiehl’s Ultimate Strength Hand Salve at night before bed, and it works amazing!

Its not greasy, absorbs super quick and in the morning, my hands feel like butter!  

The formulation is made up of a blend of botanical oils like: Avocado, Eucalyptus, Sesame Seed and natural wax derived from Olive Oil to soothe, moisturize and condition the skin.  And, when applied, it actually forms a “glove-like” protective barrier to help prevent moisture loss.

Who Looked the Best at the 2008 American Music Awards?

Last night, I got under my nice and warm blanket (as it’s really cold here in Toronto) and watched the American Music Awards - which I really enjoyed.  Everyone looked absolutely fabulous.  We saw several short skirts and dresses with a lot of red/berry stained dramatic lips.

I have to give the Happiface Award for the Best Red Lips to:  Christina Aguilera, because as you know Red is not just a shade it’s an attitude and confidence that Christina brings everytime!

And, the Happiface Award for the Best Overall Look goes to:  ( I chose two, as they both looked equally gorgeous!):  Paris Hilton and Queen Latifah.

Fall 2008 Makeup Tips & Trends

Yesterday afternoon, I had a radio interview with my friends - Dani, Chad and Fuzzy - over at Vibe 98.5 in Calgary - which will be airing sometime early next week - to talk all about my new line of makeup brushes as well as the Makeup trends for Fall 2008.

So here are some of this Season’s Hottest Trends:

For Fall we’re seeing a lot of two very different looks; The minimalist look (which is basically your flawless face with naturally contoured cheekbones) and the complete opposite - the bold/dramatic look with stand out eye’s and berry stained lips.

1.  Bronze - Gold and Bronze eyeshadow shades are really hot for Fall.  Some of my favourite shades on the market right now are:  Giorgio Armani #3, Yves Saint Laurent #10, MAC Eyeshadow in Bronze and MAC Shadestick in Beige-ing.

2.  Red and Berry Stained Lips - The key here is the stain.  You still want to be able to see the natural texture of your lips but with a bit more colour.  Think of the colour of red wine when choosing a shade for you.  If you don’t want to buy a new product - you can make it at home by pressing and patting your already exsisting lipstick into your lip to make your own stain at home!

3.  Natural Looking Cheeks - You’re going to want to keep your blush to a minimum this Fall by choosing a shade that resembles the colour of your cheeks when you’ve just come in from a jog.  I love Nars Blush in Orgasm.

 

 

4.  The Minimalist Look - The key to this look is an even complexion.  Apply foundation all over your face including under and on top of your eyelids to even out the skin tone.  For more coverage, press and pat another layer of foundation into the areas needed.  Finish with powder to set your makeup. My favourite foundations on the market are:  Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation and Giorgio Armani’s NEW Face Fabric - It’s amazing!

 

 

5.  Purple - This Fall’s hottest colour.  If you don’t have any purple in your closet - you might want to try adding this shade into your makeup wardrobe.  Apply a soft purple eyeliner pencil on your eyelid and smudge it out into the crease to for a natural look that really stands out!

And of course, remember to have fun while doing your makeup and don’t forget to wake.up & make.up!

Super-Size your Lashes!

As you know I am always on the look out for the next best mascara!  Because regardless of the occassion, mascara is one product a women should never leave home without! (My mom always say’s that if she doesn’t wear mascara, she’ll look like a “plucked chicken”…I swear she used those exact words! lol!)

So, the other day I received a brand NEW product from Maybelline New York, called: The Volum’ Express Colossal Mascara.  I was so excited to try it, because not only did it look great in it’s bright yellow packaging, but it also said that it was going to make my lashes 9X the volume in just one coat!

So I decided to put it to the test - and let me tell you, it definitely measured up!  My lashes looked amazing in just a few seconds!

This mascara has the perfect ‘volumizing’ MegaBrush and is made with collagen (a unique formula) which helps to make the lashes look plump and full!  And the best part, it has a suggested retail price of $7.99!!

A definite Makeup Must Have!!  I would love to hear what you think of this mascara!!! Yiippee!!
