A: Dear hydrated,

Absolutely! A different moisturizer for winter is a must! It is only natural that as the temperature drops below zero, the air outside is obviously colder and drier than in the summer months, which means our poor skin, if not taken care of properly, can become irritated and excessively dry!!…(oh, how I already miss you Summer…the hot sunshine glistening on my shoulders, tanning on the beach, pina colada’s…sigh…i’ll miss you the most, flip flop…only 240 more days till i see you again…)

Here are some quick and easy tips to help protect your skin from the harsh winter conditions!

1. Try using a rich face cream instead of lotion. A cream is a heavier moisturizer than a lotion, which will provide that extra hydration you’re looking for during the colder months! Also, if you don’t already do so, try moisturizing both morning and night, that’ll help keep you skin feeling nice and soft! (more…)

Q: Hi Sandy, What is the best foundation for hiding freckles? (From: Rebecca)

A: Dear freckles,

Why would you ever want to hide your freckles, when they are a part of who you are? I think freckles are so beautiful, and anyone who has them, is lucky!

My advice would not be to use foundation to hide them, but, to love who you are and wear your freckles proud!!  So I would suggest to use a light weight tinted moisturizer to help even out your skin tone, but at the same time allowing your beautiful freckles to shine through!

However, if even after reading this, you still would like to conceal your freckles…try mixing a full coverage foundation with a liquid concealer. This will help to conceal the area, as well as even out your skin tone.

Well I hope that helped you out, and remember, you are beautiful just the way you are!! Freckles and all!!

Living with acne can be really difficult…trust me, i know! When I was hit with bad acne in my early 20’s i was devestated. I remember thinking that the only way to get rid of it was to completely dry out my face. I used every acne product on the market and avoided moisturizer, like as if it was carbs on the atkins diet!

Later I found out the exact opposite. Acne actually gets worse if your skin is too dry! So here are some tips I learned along the way, that hopefully will help you out as well! (more…)

There are so many different brushes to choose from on the market. Almost every cosmetic line sells their own set of brushes, and every line looks different, feels different and charges different prices. So where to begin?

For me, a great brush is all about how it feels. I always look for a brush that is going to feel good on my face. The main difference between all the variety of brushes out there is the hair they use to make the brushes. With that said, some of the top quality hairs like: Pony, Squirrel and Goat, can be quite expensive. So if you really love the way the brush feels, you are going to have to look at it as a great investment. I say “great” investment because a lot of the top quality brushes, if you take good care of them, can last you a really long time. (more…)

Concealing under the eye’s is one of the most common questions I get. It is also a really important step in obtaining a beautiful flawless face. The most important thing about using concealer under the eye’s is to cover up the dark circles and to do it, so that it looks as though you aren’t wearing any make.up
So how to do that?

First you want to hydrate under the eye’s, with a good eye cream. This will ensure that your concealer doesn’t look dry and cakey. Then you are going to want and find the right concealer colour for you. Generally your concealer should be the same shade as your foundation or one shade lighter. (more…)
