The ‘Enviro Cut’ is a new cutting technique designed to save time, energy and money.
Frank Tripodi, Artistic Director at Phases Hair Studio in Toronto and Wella Professional educator, understands his clients don’t have the time to spend all afternoon in the salon to get their hair looking great. So, to keep up with their on-the-go lifestyles, Frank has launched a service that promises to save time and money, as well as water and electricity.
“By the time you finish your latte I’ve already finished cutting your hair” says Frank, noting the service can cut up to 30 minutes of your time at the salon and 20% off the price.
The Enviro Cut is done on dry hair, eliminating the time and resources needed to wash and blow-dry. Frank says the hair is lightly misted with a leave-in conditioner, to add moisture during the service, but there is no need for the hair to be wet or even damp. He suggests clients arrive at the salon with clean and touchable hair to receive this service.
The Enviro Cut is perfect if you are looking for a major hair transformation or just a trim to freshen your look. With wet haircutting it can be a mystery as to how the cut will look once dry, but with the Enviro Cut clients can get the overall visual as the process is taking place.
“The dry cutting technique is appropriate for every type of hair – curly, straight, wavy, fine, or thick,” Frank says. “I can see exactly how your hair will fall and cut the hair in a way that will suit its natural tendencies and accentuate your features and personality.” (www.phases.ca)
When I visited the salon – I went in at 12:00pm and left at 12:20pm. I got a bang trim from hair stylist Martin Petris – that was so quick and fast – I didn’t even feel as though I went to the salon. Definitely a great service for people on the go…you could literally do this on your lunch break – and still have time to eat! Yiiipppeee :)
However, I did miss the traditional shampoo head massage – which I find sooo relaxing – so I don’t think I would do the ‘Enviro Cut’ all the time (maybe every other cut).
Also, the cost of this service is 20% off the original hair cut price – which I personally feel is not enough of a discount for what you get. You have to wash and blow-dry your own hair – which means the salon uses half the amount of product and half the amount of time – so why not make the ‘Enviro Cut’ half the price? Thoughts?
